Report from Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad 

The First Anniversary of Holy Sri Astha Lakshmi Bhavan and Sri Chidananda Dhyana Mandir was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm in very solemn atmosphere in the worthy and holy presence of H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Rev. Swamiji Maharaj arrived by Jet Airways from Delhi in the morning on April 28, 2002 and very rousing welcome was accorded to him by a large number of devotees and yoga lovers at the Ahmedabad airport.

Rev. Swamiji Maharaj was given very traditional welcome at holy Sri Vishwanath Temple of the Ashram.  After offering worship and Aarati, Sri Swamiji had darshan of Sri Dhukh Bhanjan Hanuman and Sri Sri Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhavan. A mammoth gathering gathered for Rev. Sri Swamiji’s darshan.  Sri Rajendra Thaker. Retired Assistant Income Tax commissioner expressed his heart’s feelings by his compassion.  “Welcome Swamiji, please be at home” and a number of other devotees too expressed their feelings.

Rev. Sri Swamiji Maharaj led heart touching Kirtan and shared his feeling by provoking the power of prayers and NAM JAPA.  He said that the sole purpose of the life is only one and that is realisation of the absolute, here in this very birth.  Constant and continuous awareness and remembrance of the divine name is the only way for His divine grace.

Holy Sri NAVCHANDI YAJNA was organized at the Yajna vedi in front of Sri Vishwanath Temple.  Along with 16 learned priests, Rev. Sri Swamiji Maharaj joined for chanting of Holy Name all 700 verses of Sri Durga Saptasati.  Holy Prasad was distributed to all who attended the evening service of the temple. A memorable devotional music recital was organized by eminent artist of the city.  Smt.  Monikaben Shah & her students, Pandit Sri Krishanakantbhai Parikh with his bright and eloquent sons, Smt. Aarati Munshi, Ms. Yesh Munshi & Master Swetketu Vora, with Smt. Mayurikaben Oza were the prominent singers. On 29^th April forenoon a grand worship was organized in Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhavan afternoon Tamil Mahila Sangham’s group recited Sri Lalita Sahashranam in melodies modes of South Indian Music.

58^th Birthday of Swami Adhyatmanandaji

Rev. Sri Swamiji Maharaj was accorded ceremoniously to all temples for worship  and a grand musical feast with delicious dinner was arranged in Ashram’s lawn.  It is all started from very early dawn and ended at almost after mid-night.  Rev. Swamiji Maharaj pleased everyone in all manners to make devotees happy in spite of his hectic schedule. Devotees of Pujya Swamiji from all over India and abroad conveyed their love and devotion on this special day.  

582/583 Yoga Camp

582^nd Yoga camp by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj was organized at Sri Sivananda Ashram.  670 candidates from all walks of life joined the camp.  Official inauguration was done on Sunday 12^th May in the morning with 45 minutes of meditation.  Janab Sanaulla Saheb and corporater Ibrahimbhai from Jamalpur, Bawa Bukhari mosque, Rev. Father Joseph from Bishop house, Mirjapur, Dr. Bhupinder Singh Bhatia from Govind dham Gurudwara and Sri Daboo Saheb from Parsi Agiyari with Mr. Ishwarbhai Makawana minister for Youth & Cultural activities, Govt. of Gujarat all jointly lit the lamp; and prayed for peace in Ahmedabad in particular and for Gujarat in General.

Simultaneously Rev. Swamiji conducted 583^rd Yoga camp at village Bhat for the corporater of Cadila Pharmacy.  Concluding function was agog with great zeal and festive moods with Garba dance by Yoga lovers and respectable members of their families. “Potluck Dinner” programme was the memorable evening for the Yoga camp participants.

 Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra Japa Yajna

On 16^th May 2002, Thursday, Shri Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra Japa Yajna for 24-hours was held at the Ashram for the early recovery and good health of Pujya Sri Guru Maharaj.  Three hundred and forty six devotees participated in the Japa Yajna.  

7th Anniversary of Sri Lord Vishwanath Mahadev

7^th Anniversary of Lord Sri Vishwanath Mahadev was celebrated solemnly at the holy shrine with Rudrabhishek in the shrine and Homam in the front of the Shrine.  Seven blessed couples were selected for Yajna; Poornahuti, the holy concluding was done by Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj.  Rev. Swamiji conducted the evening service of the temple, which was magnificently decorated befitting the occasion. A grand public meeting was organized which was attended by a large number of devotees.  Devotional singing by Smt. Vibhaben & Sri RashBihari Desai, Pandit Sri Krishanakantbhai & Pandit Nirajchandra was the culmination of the show.

Mr. B. R. Mandal (accountant general of the Maharashtra) was awarded “YOGA PRACHAR RATNA” by Rev. Sri Swamiji Maharaj, for his humanitarian services in the field of YOGA.  Rev. Sri Swamiji’s recent work “ GITA NAVNITAM” (Essence of the Gita) and ninth edition of “PRARTHANA STOTRA SANGHRAHA” were released by Rev. Sri K. K. Shastriji (98 yrs.), a scholarly personality and great veteran of Indian classical literature.

Programme concluded by a grand feast, which was attended and enjoyed by over 1200 devotees. Thus Ashram had a happy and blissful time with Rev. Sri Swamiji Maharaj’s long await arrival.
